In an interview for the Daily Telegraph on Monday 28 December 2015, Jools Holland compares the BBC to “museums, royal parks and public swimming baths.” I think that’s a compliment.

Respect the environment

Like many parks and green spaces across the UK, the Royal parks are facing a challenge to reopen facilities safely. Pick your litter up and bin it or take it home. Just yours. Treat the wildlife, trees and plants as the wonderful living things that they are. For more information click here.

Our Activities

Guild members at our tour of Greenwich

From the start our members most wanted to be kept informed of news about The Royal Parks and to keep in touch with former colleagues and others associated with the parks. They all had one thing in common - a desire to keep the parks at the forefront of horticultural, landscape and cultural excellence. For some this would take the form of becoming a volunteer or assist The Royal Parks in its activities or perhaps supporting the apprenticeship scheme or maybe researching and recording the parks history and heritage or contributing to the newsletter. Others simply wanted to keep in touch through visits of interest whilst meeting members of the Guild and parks' staff.

Guild master classes run in partnership with The Royal Parks

  • Watch our presentation based on The Royal Parks’ Hidden Stories Episode 8 Parks in Wartime

  • Online talks

Guild member Richard Flenley was asked by the Friends of the Landscape Archive at Reading (FOLAR) to give a virtual talk on The Royal Parks.

  • Oral history

Guild volunteers have been recording family histories as part of the World War I project. Carol, the great granddaughter of Arthur William Berry, recalled family stories of Arthur who worked as a gardener at Hampton Court in the early part of the last century.
